Contact Us

South London Makerspace is a social community workshop in the heart of Herne Hill. It’s owned, run and maintained by the members; there are no paid staff so everything is done on a volunteer basis.

The best way of reaching us is via our members discussion forum Discourse, we’re a member run organisation so questions are best put to the membership, also there’s almost always someone on there who can answer your question, so you’ll probably get a quicker response.

Before you contact us, please read the following ‘Frequently Asked Question’s and hopefully this will answer your question. If not, please fill out the form below but as above, while we do try to keep up with the emails, we may not answer right away.

Q: Can I pop in to have a look and to see how it all works

A: Absolutely, we welcome people to have a look round and to chat with members. Our open evenings are usually on alternate Wednesdays from 7:00pm, (but check our calendar before heading over) – where there will be someone there to welcome you and answer any questions (if its one of the regulars, they will probably have biscuits too !). Please try to avoid other times as we can not guarantee there will be anyone there to assist you (the space is not staffed and there are not always people there)

Q: How do I join South London Makerspace

A: Membership is almost full so we do restrict applications with the use of a queue system. Please fill out the form HERE to be added to the list. Once spaces are available, an email will be sent inviting you to the sign-up process.

Q: Can I get ‘YOUR WIDGIT HERE’ designed / manufactured / made / fixed

A: We are a members organisation, we do not design / manufacture / make or fix to order. You may however be able to ask a member if they would help, especially if you have an interesting idea or project. The best place for this is our community forum ‘Discourse’. Feel free to set up an account and ask your question there.

Q: I’m a student and I desperately need to complete ‘YOUR PROJECT HERE’, I need someone to help me.

A: As above, we are a members organisation, we do not design / manufacture / make or fix to order. Your first call should be your university or college design department, they have access to the same sort of equipment with paid staff to assist. Failing that, you may be able to ask a member if they would help, especially if you have an interesting idea or project. The best place for this is our community forum ‘Discourse’. Feel free to set up an account and ask your question there.

Q: Can I rent space for myself / my project / company / storage

A: No, we do not rent out space. Our space to dedicated to our members use only and there are no reserved zones or private areas. We don’t encourage long term (or even medium term) storage either, the only items in the space are ones that are Actively being worked on by members

Q: Can I sponsor the Makerspace with equipment or services

A: We would love to discuss sponsorship options with companies and people. A large quantity of our equipment was obtained via sponsorship in full or part. Please contact the Directors with the form below and we will get back to you ASAP

Q: Can i donate ‘XXXX’ to the space, how do I go about this

A: We are more than happy to accept donations of useful items and equipment. While not wanting to offend, we do however have to be really careful as unwanted or older items will end up costing us large amounts of money to dispose of in line with governing laws, this is especially true of old collections of ‘stuff’ and older electrical equipment. For larger and important items, we can arrange transport and assistance. Please contact us using the form below Before coming to the space with your donation.

Q: I would like to sell you my ‘PRODUCT OR SERVICE

A: We do not buy from a cold call. New equipment or services are bought via a system of proposal to the membership by a member, discussion and investigation into the options and finally purchase from an official channel only. We actively support Green and Sustainable solutions in preference and will look for accredited organisations in doing this. If you still believe we may be interested in your Product or Service, please add a note to Discourse where the membership will discuss or debate its merits

If your question is not answered above, you have a more official enquiry or need to discuss something private or confidential, you can email the directors via the enclosed form:
